ALOJATRA
Community-Based Child Education Reconnection Project
In disaster-prone and poverty-affected areas of Bhola District, many children—especially from fishing communities, displaced families, and ultra-poor households—remain out of school. Repeated displacement and livelihood insecurity often result in school dropout or exclusion from formal education.
ALOJATRA is an ongoing education-focused initiative of MAUS, implemented under the CRIDP umbrella. The project aims to reconnect out-of-school and dropout children with basic education and support their reintegration into formal schooling.
Project Goals
- Identify out-of-school and dropout children
- Improve basic literacy and early learning skills
- Ensure re-enrollment and retention in primary education
Key Activities
- Community-based identification and mapping of out-of-school and dropout children
- School readiness and basic literacy sessions for disadvantaged children
- Facilitation of re-enrollment in nearby government primary schools
- Regular follow-up with children, parents, and schools to prevent dropout
- Awareness campaigns for parents on education and child protection
Implementation Approach
ALOJATRA follows a community and school-based integrated model. MAUS field staff and community facilitators work closely with local communities to identify children. A Community Development Officer (Education) oversees project implementation, school coordination, parent engagement, and progress monitoring. The project maintains strong collaboration with local government schools and education authorities.
Child Protection Commitment
All activities under ALOJATRA strictly follow MAUS Child Protection Policy and ethical guidelines, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for every child.
Expected Outcomes
- Increased enrollment and re-enrollment of disadvantaged children
- Reduced dropout rates and improved learning continuity
- Enhanced community awareness on education and child rights
